Youth Volunteers

The Saint Louis Science Center’s Youth Volunteer Program is designed to give teenagers, ages 14-18, valuable opportunities that will lead to success in the workplace and in academics.  The 170 current youth volunteers facilitate demonstrations and activity tables throughout the Science Center, serve as teaching assistants in the camp programs, and work with YES Teens on Science Theater productions.  By performing volunteer work, not only do the teen participants build respect for their community, they also obtain a deeper understanding of science and learn valuable communication strategies. For more information about the Youth Volunteer Program, please contact Lady Gywanna F. Jackson at 314.289.4434.    Youth Volunteers will participate in a series of five professional development trainings. These sessions are designed to provide Youth Volunteers with better training and supplemental resources to maximize and enhance the Youth Volunteer experience.  Professional development sessions must be completed before Youth Volunteers are assigned to a specific work station/duty. These sessions are certain to be fun and rewarding, using similar strategies and approaches to those of the YES program.

All sessions will be held at the Taylor Community Resource Center, 4900 Manchester, on the southwest corner of Manchester and Kingshighway.
