State of the Union

YES | Media | Youth Advocacy
Did anyone watch the State of the Union address this week? What did you think? You can view it here on You tube. In the first part of the address President Obama speaks about education in the United States. He specifically mentions educating today's youth in areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (or STEM for those of you paying attention). I kept coming back to the YES program and what we try to do. What do you think President Obama would say about our program? Did you know that the YES program knows a scientist on President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology? Dr. Gates has visited the YES program on several occasions. If you were able to ask Dr. Gates to pass along  your thoughts to President Obama about YES and/or education, what would you want President Obama to know?

We're Back At It Again...........Blogging For The YES Program

Youth Advocacy

Hello readers and comment makers of the Youth Exploring Science website. I am KiOntey and this is my third year in the YES Program, I have had several experiences such as working with children with Cerebral Palsy, children from under privileged communities, and many different teens from all over the St. Louis Metropolitan area. There have been many difficult paths along the way from being the youngest person in a component to having the lead a lesson in front of younger people that are ready to learn anything that you put in front of them. But in the last couple of months there have been plethora of people that I have met such as doctors, health advocates, and many more teens. I am looking forward to having a great year and learning more than I have ever in the last three years. So I want to say to all the new YES Teens that this experience is a wonderful one and take advantage of all the opportunities that are placed in front of you and enjoy them because there are many students that don't have to same opportunities given to them.
