YES...in a commerical

YES | Media

Did you know that in addition to being shown in KMOV's At the Center on Saturday, YES teens were also recently featured in their very own commercial? The even cooler part is that YES teens were not only the stars in front of the camera, but they were the stars behind it too! Our very own Healthy Teens Healthy Living component showed off their teaching techniques while the SciJourn crew was behind the scenes. Check out some backstage footage on our Flickr account.

State of the Union

YES | Media | Youth Advocacy
Did anyone watch the State of the Union address this week? What did you think? You can view it here on You tube. In the first part of the address President Obama speaks about education in the United States. He specifically mentions educating today's youth in areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (or STEM for those of you paying attention). I kept coming back to the YES program and what we try to do. What do you think President Obama would say about our program? Did you know that the YES program knows a scientist on President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology? Dr. Gates has visited the YES program on several occasions. If you were able to ask Dr. Gates to pass along  your thoughts to President Obama about YES and/or education, what would you want President Obama to know?

Youth Exploring Science in St. Louis Commerce Magazine

YES | Media

"Diane Miller exhibits her domain, the Saint Louis Science Center’s Taylor Community Science Resource Center, with gracious enthusiasm. The Center, itself, reflects her hospitality. 'I wanted the architect to provide us that front wall of windows so the community would feel welcome to come in. The windows are important to me. They say we have nothing to hide; we want you in here.'" Click here to read the whole article on the Saint Louis Commerce Magazine Website.
