Musical Food (Pico Crickets)
Submitted by Kia001 on Sat, 03/01/2008 - 12:20pm. Designing Teens
Today in Desgin It, we made musical foods. My partner was Andrea. First, we made a play-dough piano. We taped two stripes of aluminum foil to the table and attached a alligator clip to each strip then connected it to the pico cricket. Second, we made pickle-oh. we cut the pickle in half and slided both pieces onto to the wooden skewer, then jab paper clips into the pickle slice, then attach itto the pico cricket. Lastly, we made a electric banana. We unbent a metal paper clip and jbbed it into the bottom of a banana so that it sticks into the friuty part, then we stuck another paper clip in near the top of the banana skin, then attached the pico cricket. This activity was very interesting!

Today my partner and I worked on Pico Crickets and did 3 different experiments to show what all it can do.
They where, making playdoh, pickels, and a banana all make noise buy clipping alligator clips to it.
This was fun because you wouldn't think that the computer would sense that these certain items where placed on the foil we used.
I enjoyed doing this experiment and I'm pretty sure that other people would enjoy this also.
Even if they didnt know a thing about the Pico Crickets.

pico Cricket
Submitted by Erin001 on Sat, 03/01/2008 - 12:15pm. Designing TeensToday we worked on pico crickets . During the pico crickets we used 3 materials. The three materials were pickles, bananas and play dough. Every time we touched or did something to the items they made different music notes. Also today me and Korey from Design it got interviewed. We got interviewed by webster groves students. They asked us about how we got into the program if we liked working here and why did we choose the science center. So that is what my day was like. :)

"Musical Food" Pico Crickets
Submitted by Lauren001 on Sat, 03/01/2008 - 12:09pm. Designing Teens
In the learning labs today I made music using pickles and bananas. We connected the foods together all different types of ways. We got a chance to change the sounds using the different foods. It was really fun. Working with the Pico Crickets has really been fun because I've never had a chance to work with something like this before. I hope we continue to work with the Pico Crickets.

Pico Reaction
Submitted by Monte Hicks on Sat, 02/16/2008 - 1:39pm. Designing Teens
I built my own buzzer race today using the pico crickets. I programmed it so that 2 people can compete against each other. When you start it you wait for the pico block to chirp then you press a little button. After you press the button it records your reaction time and how long it took for you to press the button after it chirped. It was cool to know that I did that all by myself.
