Hi All,
It has been a while since we were able to blog. Last Saturday we went to the Chubb Trail. It was Jasmine's first trip to the woods. We checked out what was growing. We saw an abundance of Anemonella thalictroides, a plant I was familiar with from gardening but that I hadn't seen growing before in the wild. The Anemonella had a variety of colors and sizes of flowers from a lavender pink to white. Jasmine noticed that the flowers had different numbers of petals.
Vincent, Jasmine and I matched paint samples to the flowers, moss, cedar berries, and leaves we found. There were a few colors we couldn't match. We took photos once we found a match, but the camera didn't register our colors well.
Spring is quite late this year, or so it seems compared to last year which may have been too early. The redbuds were just starting to color up on our April 12 hike, last year dogwoods, redbud and maple were all in full bloom on March 31 and had been bitten by frost by April 6.
Today Jessica and Vincent worked on researching park policies, while Jasmine finished a fellowship application for Shaw Nature Reserve.

Last saturday me, Vincent, and Leah went hiking in Chubb Forest. On the way we were talking about what type of activities we were going to be doing with the kids in the summer. On the hike, we did this activity that we were going to try with the kids. For this activity we took paint sploches on small pieces of paper and tried to match them with the different things that we saw out in the forest. In the forest we found a couple different flowers. One flower that we found was called Dutchman's Breeches. They call the flower this because they look like upside down breeches that the dutchmen would wear.

On last Saturday, we finished drawing our mural at the community garden. After the drawing was done, we painted the letters of how we wanted it to look like. After we were done painting the letters, Jessica put all paintings of her hand all over the mural. The way she was so funny. I think that the best part of the mural was Vincent's letter. When we went back to see the mural with some of the Adams school kids we figured out that some people made some changes to it . Some of the changes I thought were really cool, but some of the other changes they had made the mural look kind of wierd.
