Did you know that scientists and artists collaborate frequently to design scientific models, illustrate scientific findings, and even to create visual representations of astronomic data collected from hundreds and thousands of light years away!

Check out this CNN article with an enhanced photo of the Helix Nebula: A beautiful synergy of art and science.

How far should people go to tackle childhood obesity?

Recently, a group from Georgia began running ads to raise awareness of the realities and risks of childhood obesity. This ad campaign was organized in response to a series of surveys that found that most Georgia parents of obese children didn't realize their kids had a weight problem, or even think that childhood obesity was a serious problem, among other troubling findings.

So it seems right that a group of people should seek to raise awareness about the issue, right? But it's the ad campaign's frank, in-your-face methods that have been called into question.

Check out this article to learn more, and think about it for yourself- where do you draw the line when you're fighting to stop childhood obesity?

Today was a good day, I got a lot of work done. I'm almost finished with my voice over for world food day. The project is coming along, the photo story is done, and I just need to put the voice over with it. But other than that the day was pretty easy going.Guess that's all for now

Today at work...

Today was a very productive day of work, I got my second draft done on my Donald Danforth Article. World Food day was a pretty cool event to report on and I had the honor of going back for a second time. Its great seeing thousands of people come out to all support one cause together. I wish I could go to Africa to see how it affects the families over there.

Today was a good day mostly. Toni came back today after a long break away, and it was interesting to see her get back into the swing of things. Got a lot done on this World Food Day photo story so that's good. Basically it was just a day of work nothing truly exciting

November 5th 2011

Today was a pretty good day, I got the draft of my article done, I'm just ready to get the edited version back so I can make the changes and be done with my first article this fall. I just turned 18 the other day and I don't feel any older. Just feels like I'm one more step in the forest. You can never go all the way into the forest, you go half way in and then you're on your way out.

Today's Work

Today was a great day to work! Dave wasn't here and I feel like I got soo much work done. it's weird, normally i get work done and kinda slack when he's here, but today he was gone all day so I literally could've sat here and played games or something. I got so much work done with the video script and I may double up on the work and also do a written article. i realize that based on the questions and footage that Lamar and I collected we have enough for a lot of different stories that are all somehow linked to Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.

World Food Day

Today was a pretty cool day, as apart of SciJourn I got to cover the world food day event at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. Me along with my partner Damonte Johnson spent over 2 hours doing interviews, taking photos, and getting video of the whole event. Basically this is the second year of the event and what they do is package food and send boxes of it over to Tanzania, Africa. Then after an hour participants get to go down stairs to see a little presentation, and then look around at the activities on the bottom floor. It was a truly fun event, and I encourage people to go next year.

World Food Day 2.0

Today and last night actually I went to the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and watched people from all over the city come and bag food for Africa. Last night was high school night and it seemed to just be this huge party of kids coming together to package food for a good cause on a Friday night. It was nuts! Today everyone else came in, parents, organizations, schools it was a lot of fun. I even had a chance to sit the camera down and package some myself. I met the couple behind it all and they had a very interesting story to how all this came about. I can't wait to publish this article or photo story I'm going to make with Lamar.

Back In Action

Today was very busy, in many ways. It took me awhile to get back into the swing of things after being away for a little while. But now im back in action and ready to make it the best last year possible. I'm currently working on two projects, one is a video/interview for World food Day which is on October 14th and 15th. My other project is on Hiv/Aids, and I know that many people have written or done projects involving aids and hiv. But mine will be more relevant to us, and will have updated information. Other than that this has been a pretty great week, i got accepted to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and i'm so happy. Also I recently found out that i'm pulling 7 A's and 1 B, so im pretty excited and these have been my best grades since starting High School..I guess that's all for now: Lamar.
Today's Activities

Today was pretty awesome. I have my article done but I haven't had time to submit so I should do that soon. I went out on Science Corner with Teddy to see what they do exactly. I watched my little brother D'angelo and my godsister Jasmine work. The college prep session today went well today also. Hopefully next week will go even better.
