Dear Alumni,

This fall the YES Program will celebrate 14 years of excellence. It’s because of your tenure as a YES teen that we were recently able to secure funding from the US Navy. This spring we welcomed the largest incoming cohort with 126 paid and volunteer members. They brought the total number of current teens to 350. We provided science education programming at 12 off site locations this summer in addition to two Summertime Science venues and working in the 5050 Oakland building. In this time of growth we want to take the opportunity to thank you as a valued alumnus. You are a member of a family that is over 800 strong and growing! Your past and present contributions to the YES program have been invaluable to the success of the program. Our future will not be the same without your continued support.

Marcellius Calvin

Marcellius participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 1998-2001. He graduated from Rockwood Summit High School in 2002. Marcellius enrolled at Forest-Park Community College in Fall of 2003. He credits the Y.E.S. Program for helping him achieve work and interpersonal skills. Marcellius currently resides in the St. Louis area.

Dominique Brothers

Dominique was a participant of the Y.E.S. Program from 2002-2005. After graduating from Gateway High School in 2005, she enrolled at Harris-Stowe State University. Dominique is currently pursuing a Business Administration degree, with a Management option. She plans to start her own childcare business and senior home facility. Dominique credits the Y.E.S. Program for providing oppurtunities that allowed her to learn how to see things from a positive outlook, have effective communication with others, and proper interviewing skills.

Paulette Douglas

Paulette participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 2000-2003. She graduated from Vashon in 2003, and immediately enrolled in the Nursing Program at Forest-Park Community College. Paulette is currently the mother of two, and resides in the St. Louis area with her sister.

Candace Jarret

Candace participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 1998-2002. She graduated from Hazelwood West in 2002, and then enrolled at Mizzou. While in college, Candace came back to Y.E.S. Program as a supervisor for a couple of summers. Candace graduated from Mizzou with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in May 2006. She is currently working as a General Assignment Convergent Reporter for a CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Candace plans on attending graduate school for either forensic toxicology or advertising and public relations. She hopes to one day open a nonprofit jour

Leo Adams

Leo participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 2002-2006. After graduating from Bayless High School in 2006, he enrolled at Lindenwood University with a major in mass communications and marketing. Leo is unsure of his future career plans, but believes that life's journey will lead to amazing things!

Desmond Holmes

Desmond participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 2002-2004. He graduated from Soldan High School in 2006. Desmond is currently attending Forest Park Community College, majoring in biology. Desmond plans on becoming a veterinarian.

Darrieal Price

Darrieal was a participant in the Y.E.S. program in the summer of 2000. She graduated from Kirkwood High School in 2002. Darrieal recently graduated from Tennesse State University in May of 2006 with a degree in Accounting. She is currently pursuing her M.B.A. from Webester University, with plans to become a C.P.A. at a major accounting firm.

Daunte Henderson

Daunte participated in the Y.E.S. Program from 1998 to 2000. Daunte graduated from St. Louis University High School in 2002. He then enrolled in Clark-Atlanta University from Fall 2002 until Spring 2004 as a Public Relations major. Daunte transferred to Bradley University in the Fall of 2005 to continue his degree in Public Relations. He plans on attending graduate school to pursue a Masters in Higher Education. Daunte hopes to work in Student Affairs at a university upon graduating.

LaCresha Naylor

LaCresha participated in the Y.E.S. Program in the summer of 2002. She graduated from Hazelwood East in 2006. LaCresha attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City for three semesters as a child psychology major. She is currently taking the spring 2007 semeser off, but will be transfering to Clark-Atlanta University next fall to finish her degree in child psychology.

Shalonda Bolden

Shalonda was a participant in the Y.E.S. Program from 1998-2002. She graduated from Soldan High School in 2002. Shalonda is currently working at Lifeskils as a Residential Instructor. She had to undergo special training in order to meet the needs of special-needs residents. Shalonda is still best friends with Tiffany Atkinson.

Erica Byrd

Erica was one of the first teens to participate in the Y.E.S. Program! She was in the program from 1997-2001. Erica graduated from Gateway High School in 2001. Since graduating, she has come back to Y.E.S. as a supervisor from 2001-2003. She has also spent a two summers as a Summer Science Blast Teacher. Erica was enrolled in Southern Illionios University-Edwardsville in the Fall of 2001 to Summer of 2006. She was pursuing a double major in Accounting and Business Management, with a minor in Spanish. Erica recently relocated to New Orleans, where she will be enrolling in Dillard University in the Fall of 2007 to finish her degree.

Keneisha Fuller

Keneisha participated in the Y.E.S Program from 1999-2003. She graduated from Lafeyette High School in 2003. Keneisha furthered her education by attending St. Louis College of Health Careers. She graduated with a 4.0 gpa with a degree in Medical Billing in 2005. Keneisha is currently working at a collections agency. She is also the proud mother of a son, Cameron, and daughter, Caleah.
