Today we went to Manchester Market and had a race to see who could find the most products made from corn. My group won. We found a total of 105 corn products. We won Hershey drops, gumdrops, and yogurt covered pretzels. A lot of unusual things are made from corn like diapers, dry wall, and spark gloves.

Today we went to Manchester Market to observe which foods had corn in them. To our surprise about 90% of their stock contained corn. It was interesting how things like soda had corn in them. It was a great experience.

Learning about food

Agriscience
Today our component discussed the food pyramid and the many effects that fast food could have on the body. In a study that our group read, we learned that food can be as addicting as drugs. The hard part of the discussion was figuring out whether or not the government should be involved in regulating what people eat and the amounts of fast food restaurants that are located in poor communities. Ultimately our group decided that it would be best if the government educated our youth about the harmful effects of fast food, and what makes it so addicting.
