YES Teen Experience

Summertime Science
My experience as a YES Teen has taught me a lot about leadership, teamwork, and organization. I have learned that being a leader takes more than just standing in the front of a room and looking like you know what you're doing. As a leader you have to actually know what you're doing and it is important that you know it enough that you can teach others. I have also learned that it is okay to ask for help, all of my teammates are so helpful and whenever anyone is having difficulties or they need help, everyone pitches to help one another. Organization hasn't always been my strongest skill but since having to use it so often in the lessons, I have learned to make sure I always have all the materials I need and I have gone over everything I need to say.

I am ecstatic to hear that because of your experience here at the YES Program you have learned how important leadership, teamwork, and organization are. You are correct being a leader takes a lot more than just looking like you know what you're doing, as a leader its important to take initiative and be responsible for yourself as well as others. Asking for help is not a crime and I respect those that do ask for help because it shows courage-it is okay when you cannot figure things out by yourself that's why you have a team to work with you. Everyone here is here to help one another so never feel frightened to ask for help when you cannot figure something out or you're struggling to understand something. Remember: Teamwork makes the dream work!! You were one of the first teens in my group to take initiative for making sure that everyone had all the materials they needed or when something needed to be done you're always willing to do whatever to make sure everything is organized and your peers are prepared. I appreciate that. Keep up the good work and stay positive!
