Out With the Old In With the New

Summertime Science
I've been back for two weeks now. In the first week as many people know, my group "plant life" did the handy garden activity. We kept getting the same groups and they didn't want to do the handy garden anymore so we decided to come up with a different activity that would be interesting to the visitors and ourselves. We wanted them to learn but have fun as well. We desided to make the new topic about matter and the states of matter. Now we are making, what we call "Mystery Matter." It is made up of cornstarch and water to show two different states of matter liquid and solid. If you press your finger into the mix slowly its a liquid, but if you press your fingure in the mix as fast as you can you'll see that it acts like a solid. It's a fun activity and the visitors seem to be enjoying it as well as my teammates!

Jarrett I'm glad that you are enjoying the new activity Mystery Matter! It is a really fun activity to do to learn about states and properties of matter. Yesterday, the visitors that came to our class seemed to enjoy the activity and were eager to take the mystery matter home and play with it. The food coloring made the cornstarch look pretty cool and I think I got a little more excited about the colors than the visitors. I must say that for the first time you guys did an amazing job! Try to get more involved when we have visitors and especially with your teammates!
