Mystery of Matter
Yesterday, the mystery of matter component went to Fairmont City Library to show students that science can be fun and simple. One of the activities we showed was the cabbage abstract. We let the children mix in one cup of ammonia with the cabbage juice, and the other cup, which had vinegar, with another cup of cabbage juice. They saw how the colors changed and they had many question on why that happened. We also explained to them how to use a pH chart so that they could test if the new mixture was acidic or basic. The other activity we showed them was the floating bubbles. I wasn't at that table but it seemed as though the kids were really interested in why the bubbles were floating over the dry ice.

It was fun seeing how intrigued the kids were with how the colors were changing and why. I am looking forward to the next exhibit.
