Special Events
As a result of using a different astronomical approach to explain the functions of the planets and stars, Asians use a lunar calendar to define seasons, plan agricultural events, and create festivals.
For the year 2007, the New Year will begin on Feb 17.
In the spirit of promoting a more diverse awareness and recognition of the most celebrated holiday in Asia, we are inviting various community organizations to the Saint Louis Science Center to showcase Asian cultures and histories on Feb 17 & 18.
There will be many musical performances from local Asian language schools and performing groups. Showay Chang, Art professor at Florissant Community College, will set up a Village of Taiwan that presents arts and crafts hands-on activities. The Cinema St. Louis will be sharing with us the history of the Asian Film industry, and how to look for Asian films.
We know that we are still in the planning stage of this event! However, we just want to extend to you an early invitation in hopes that you can join with us to share the excitement!!!
