Design It!

Designing Teens, one of the four main components of the YES program, focuses on problem solving skills in the context of science, technology, math, and engineering.  Throughout the course of the fall and spring, YES teens within the Designing Teens component work on long-term, project-based activities while participating in professional training and development during Saturday Learning Labs.  Designing Teens learn to work with and manipulate a variety of tools and materials that result in an increased comfort level towards innovation and engineering.  During the summer, participants of Designing Teens work six hours a day, five days a week, and have the opportunity to work directly with the public as they engage main-building visitors in hands-on science explorations.
