City Science

One of four main components of the Saint Louis Science Center’s YES program, City Science is a YOP tax credit program  focusing on science within the context of urban environments.  While in City Science, YES teens engage in a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based science labs while participating in professional development and life-skills workshops.

While City Science further promotes and enhances science literacy among YES teens, it also works towards creating excelled leaders, mentors, and facilitators.  During the fall and spring semester, YES teens attend Saturday Learning Labs, participating in project-based activities as well as wet-lab training.  Throughout the summer, City Science YES teens work six hours a day, five days a week, spending a portion of their time in professional development, technology, and wet-lab training, and the other portion facilitating science lessons with visiting community organizations of the Taylor Community Science Resource Center.
