alchohol lamp in the lab

City Science

Alchohol lamps are bottles with alchohol in them with a rope that soaks up the alchohol to make the flame. We use them to boil chemicals or clean things with the flame.  The safety rules for using the alchohol lamps is that you light it then watch it ,then you put out the fire by putting on the cap from the side. Alchohol lamps are used in a lab project by lighting it with matches then boiling chemicals or what ever you have to do with it.

Awesome description! Is there another way, besides matches, to light the alcohol lamp?

Travelle and Jamaal,

What a great description of the alcohol lamps!  I am very happy to see that you included the safety rules of using a flame lamp.  It is absolutely necessary to keep an eye on the alcohol lamp to ensure no accidents in the lab.  Keep up the great work!
