My name Marlow and i'm in Robotics/Engineering and me&my bestfriend Bre'Yanna are working on making some homemade headphones. We used a lot of wires, some plastic dixie cups, and magnets. It took a while to get both headphones working, so we just worked on one at a time. Finally we got both to work and they weren't to high quality. We were able to hear just a little but not as good as the headphones you would buy from Walmart or any other store that sell headphones. Now we are working to improve the headphone we have just completed.                   (to be continued)..lol.

Im back and i`m in the component design it. In design we are making our own personal violins and it is pretty fun so far. Last week there was a man who came, and he helped us get started because made violins and sold them for a living. So he gave us a presentation on violins. so far we have drawn our design for our violins.

Today at Girls Inc. we did two activities that has to do with optical illusions and I worked with Yasmin. In our photo you could see me trying to see how good her eyesight is by having her look and read some numbers off to me while they are different colors and surrounded by light and dark colors. Afterwards we did an activity kind of similar to the color wheels we did last week but instead pictures were drawn to make it look like one picture and she really enjoyed that activity. So, today was o.k.

For the past couple of weeks we have been traveling to sites to work with children. So far I have had a lot of fun working with these sites and the children in them. We work with sand, plants, and optics. Coming up with the investigations have been hard and fun but the turn out to be fun for the children. So, really my experience in Learning Places this year has been better than I thought. 

So far this summer all we did were met new teens and went over new activities for the children this summer.Wednsday we did inquiry on tops and did ice breakers that would be fun to do with the children. Thursday we went over some things that we did and went over what we could do to make the activities we did to make it more exciting for the children we are going to work with using process skills. That's about all we did during the few days that passed.

This is the last day of the semester and to be truthful when I first heard about Learning Places I really didn't want to come to Learning Places because I thought it would be boring. After a few weeks I really got to learn more and I really started to like it more and more. Then I got to be the design engineer for Grace Hill. I got to meet other teens that I didn't even know and got to learn and do new activities. Learning Places have really grew on me for the past semesters.

During the first semester I got to see my site and designed what we were going to do with it and what we were going to add. It was fun to get to design a space for children, something that I thought I would never be able to do.  The teacher of the classroom gave us ideas about what she wanted the children to learn about and we came up with a lot of neat ideas and stuff they can have fun with and learn at the same time. I wouldn't have came up with most of those things without Meesa, Felix, and the people in my group. It was fun working with Ellen Rubin because I never got to work with a real blind person. But, it was fun to learn about all the things she could do with that disability. Those are some things I really liked while working in Learning Places. 

Today was very fun and we didn't have to much. We had 7 activities to do so that we can do them with the children. I did the Circuits which I really like but I think it would be hard for the children. I also did the colors and all you had to do was use the 3 primary colors and see how many colors you can make alone and I think the children would really like it. We got our jewels back that we made last week and they came out good. That's what took place in Learning Places today.
