Volunteer Exchange

My name is Oleg and I am a 17 years old foreign exchange-student from Germany. I came to the States in August and live since than in Kirkwood, MO. I also go to Kirkwood High School. My experience here in the States has been many-sided and I am glad to see what and to live the American dream and the American way of life, even though the food is too good for me. I have been to some states, like Oklahoma, Ohio and Illinois and was very excited to see people thinking and living a little different from state to state.I am senior in Kirkwood High School and still surprised by the school spirit and the many different course selections,...My exchange program requires me to have at least 16 hours of community service for the time period of 10 months. Once I was visiting the website of the Saint Louis Science Center, I saw the advertisement for Body World's 3 and was really excited about it because I am really interested in medicine and the human body. I thought automatically about doing my volunteer hours at the Science Center and found the volunteer section on the homepage. It was talking about volunteer possibilities at Body World's and many other interesting and educating opportunities so that I decided to participate at the Youth Volunteer Program. I met Lady Gywanna Jackson first through emails and she seemed to be a very caring person. "What a nice start", I thought.
Now, after 4 sessions of training I am really glad to be a volunteer at the SLSC and hope to have more opportunities and chances to give my good experiences back to other people.
