Youth Volunteers
My name is Demetrius and I'm here to tell you about our SCANS activity we did today. Today we were given scenarios about things that goes on daily at the Science Center. We learned how to handle these situations and remain calm. Also we learned how to approach visitors,co-workers,and our supervisors. This activity taught us how to get help when we are in over our heads and how to avoid situations like the ones we had before something bad happens. I had encountered many situations during my service at the Science Center but one mainly sticks out. One day there was a little kid just going around bouncing on the walls and just not following the directions for the activities. I ask the little boy if he could please calm down and please follow our rules. He got an attitude with me so I just went and asked his parents can they control him our they is going to be asked to leave. I told my supervisor and she took control of the situation. This is a way that SCANS can benefit you when you're at the Science Center.
