Reaction Game & Kinetic Sculpture (Pico Crickets)

The first thing we did with the pico crickets today was the kinetic sculpture. We did three differrent actvities. They were make it dance, twist to the beat and spin when you speak. How you work it is exactly what the name of the activities say. The next thing we did was the reaction game. There were 2 actvities involve. They were Hearing vs. Seeing and Hands vs. Feet.

Musical Food (Pico Crickets)

Today in Desgin It, we made musical foods. My partner was Andrea. First, we made a play-dough piano. We taped two stripes of aluminum foil to the table and attached a alligator clip to each strip then connected it to the pico cricket. Second, we made pickle-oh. we cut the pickle in half and slided both pieces onto to the wooden skewer, then jab paper clips into the pickle slice, then attach itto the pico cricket. Lastly, we made a electric banana.We unbent a metal paper clip and jbbed it into the bottom of a banana so that it sticks into the friuty part, then we stuck another paper clip in near the top of the banana skin, then attached the pico cricket. This activity was very interesting!

Our Day-Kia & Lauren

Today we made up our own poems using four rhyming words. They were poems about anything. Some were silly and some made sense. I think it was a good activity to get us up and into things. We also played around with the pico crcikets. It was fun and not difficult at all. I can't wait to see what's up for next week.
SCANS/College Prep

I think the most beneficial activity that we did in SCANS this semester was "Acquiring, Organizing & Communicating Information" activity. What we had to do is research our future occupation on Occupation Outlook Handbook. The things we had to find were:
Job Title
Job Description (types of nature of the work)
What working conditions can you expect once on the job?
What type of equipment, if any, is necessary for this job?
What kind of special training is required?
What kind of education is required?
Is experience required oe is on the job training available?
What are the oppportunities for advancement?
What is the estimated salary range?
What are the employment opportunities in this field?
What is the job outlook for the future in this chosen field?
Are there related occupations? Do they interest you?

Design It! started off there day with going to college prep this morning. When college prep was over, we went back to our room to start our first design challenge. Our first design challenge was make a ski jump. The challenge was to make the marble jump into the can without boucning on the floor. My group was kind of successful with the challenge. Our second challenge was to make our ski jump have as many hills & valleys we can. That was diffcult but we make like 2 or 3 valleys. Now we're with cindy in tech blogging about today. When we leave hear, it will be 1:00. Brandon's group, Priscilla's group and Taylor's group have to stay here for an extra hour to learn the activities for next week.

School & Sketch Robots

School has been boring so far this year. I think its boring to me because im a junior and im really ready to graduate and im kind of rushing it. Today our design challenge was to make a skech robot. I did the activity before several times but it was still complicated. The hardest part to me was trying the keep the wires on the motor taped down to the battery. After a couple of chances trying, I finally got it to work!

After School Program

The after school program is cool so far. I haven't went out to teach yeah but i think its going to be fun. Today we walked around the room and wrote stuff on the papers on the wall about improving on our working skills. We also talked about different activities that we want to do throughout the year.
