Our chickens are growing larger every time we see them. They're starting to look like hen. Their feathers are growing and they have a lot more energy. The chickens fly around from tables to chairs and love running around on the floor. They love it when we pet them and hold them like babies. Today we fed them cranberries and they absolutely adored them and ate every one in sight. I'm excited to build coops for them so that they can live outdoors on science corner.

Today we finally successfully harvested one of the worm bins that we started about a year ago. The worms have been working hard to produce such an amazing fertilizer for our planting. It took a couple of days and tedious work to finally get all the worms separated from the castings. I am excited to use the castings and watch our plants grow and blossom.

Last week I was filled with excitement as I watched about 12 chickens run around our room. The Agriscience compnent has recently recieved our very own chickens to raise and they are already looking big and healthy. Our job as owners is to feed, water, and become acquainted with our new friends. I look forward to what we'll actually do with the chickens when they become adults.

It's about mid July now and our plants are really starting to grow. My bed is really blooming. Today we watered the beds really well because it isn't supposed to rain for another 10 days. Hopefully this heat wont damage our plants.

I am going to be doing an experiment soon to measure the amount of sugar in a soda can. I will be using a hydrometer to conduct the experiment, the higher it rises in the solution the more sugar is in the soda. I am excited to see the results.

This summer we are working hard to get things going again on science corner. The last few weeks we have been busy pulling weeds and clearing out beds so that we are able to plant new goods. The hours spent on science corner have been long and hard but we are slowly but surely reaching our goal. We are working in groups of two or three to a row of beds so that everyone has their own duties and are responsible for their own beds. Most of the beds have been cleared out and we started planting in them. My group planted carrots, tomatoes, pepers, watermelon, cucumbers, and corn within our three beds. Today we noticed that most of our seeds had germinated because of the heavy rain this past weekend. We are starting to see little sprouts in the ground and are excited to watch our produce grow and thrive in our very own garden.

Last week the Science Corner component took a field trip to the Tower Groves Farmer's Market. We encountered farmers from all over the Missouri and Illinois areas. We asked them questions regarding their produce and their planting. The things that they told us inspired us to plant some of the same things in our own garden. Right now we are still harvesting the things that we planted in the summer and last year. When it is time to plant again we will have so many things to put in our garden so that we can later on eat cook them and eat them.
