Hiking in Chubb Forest

Biodiversible Teens
Last saturday me, Vincent, and Leah went hiking in Chubb Forest. On the way we were talking about what type of activities we were going to be doing with the kids in the summer. On the hike, we did this activity that we were going to try with the kids. For this activity we took paint sploches on small pieces of paper and tried to match them with the different things that we saw out in the forest. In the forest we found a couple different flowers. One flower that we found was called Dutchman's Breeches. They call the flower this because they look like upside down breeches that the dutchmen would wear.

Hi Jasmine, what do you think about the paint swatch activity? Did it help you look more carefully at the colors we were seeing around us.  Is there anything you think we need to change for the summer if we repeat this activity? Number of samples?

Is there anything that we should add or take away from this activity to make it more of a learning experience?

I am so glad we got to find the purple phlox and identified the Anemonella that you noticed had differing numbers of petals too!  We need to go on another hike so we can see what has changed since our last visit!
