College Life
Submitted by diamond001 on Tue, 07/22/2008 - 5:27pm. YES-2-Tech
So for the past 2weeks I been at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly Rolla). I really like college it's just alot of work that I have to do. I'm seriously missing working for Yes-2-Tech. Being at the Science Center for these past four years have been the best experience ever. I can't wait until I get home so I can be back with my "family". Plus, they give my alot of insight on science and I'm really going to need help on chemistry.

Today in yes-2-tech we made these motor generators that spin and Nao was telling us how to give presentations to other people by showing our projects to other people and we presented them to other people in the building. So today was cool and tomorrow other people are goning to the other building so they can give there presentations.

Turbine
Submitted by diamond001 on Sat, 01/12/2008 - 12:45pm. YES-2-Tech
Today was rather intriguing. Since I came back we have a new and more challenging goal to accomplish. Fabricating a WIND TURBINE. This will be the second addition to our geodesic dome. This is kind of complicate but I know it will just take some time. I ran across this one specific type of wind turbine called a Savionus Wind Turbine. It has a interesting feature based off the fact that it's shaped like an 'S'. In my opinion I believe that this type of wind would be best for what we're doing. I was looking at this web site http://www.reuk.co.uk/Savonius-Wind-Turbines.htm and what I discovered was quite helpful. This wind turbine is good for pumping water and according on how the turbine will be used to help filter the water for the fishes. I don't directly know how the two will connect but my ideal is like the turbine will conduct the electricity that will go to some type of generator which will power the filter.
Flight School
Submitted by diamond001 on Fri, 08/10/2007 - 3:55pm. Flight School
This whole experience at Flight Schoool was rather awesome, but today was by far the coolest. In this past week everyone is Flight School has been opertaing a Flight Simulator that pretty much aided us throughout this entire week until today. This Flight Simulator had it's moments were it wasn't as intense as other things that I like doing but without it I'm sure that I wouldn't be capable to do what I did today. I was really nervous accounting on how I have never been in or plane an airplane before and flying one was a huge step. I thought I was going to freak out becuase I'm kinda afraid of height so I went second to make sure that I was going to being able to do it.
Neighborhood Houses

The entire experience at Neighborhood Houses was rather a fulfilling experience. The lesson that I liked the most was the thermometer lesson plan. I chose this one not only because it was the lesson I came up with I just really liked the kids fascination with seeing the food color go up as the temperature increased adn go down as it decreased. Comparing being at Neighborhood Houses to JJK the kids were completely different. At JJK the kids weren't as interested in the lesson plans unlike the kids at Neighborhood Houses they enjoyed the lesson plans and actually was amazed or felt as if they learned something.
Testing water

The two samples we tested were the dome water and the toilet water. The results were that the dome water was .50 mg/L of Ammonia and the toilet water was 1.0 mg/L of Ammonia. The toilet water was also a shade darken than the dome water. The toilet water may have been darrker because of the residuee in the toilet, however it could also be because of the cleaning material used such as pine soil or comet. In addition, the results of the tapwater was the same as the toilet water.

MITE Program

Well today has been rather interesting I miss home through. I made a couple of new friends mostly the boys because I really don't get along that good with girls. I learned more about my future career as an CHEMICAL ENGINEER. I also learned about what they do and some stereotypes about people who potentially want to be Chemical Engineers. I'm really having alot of fun through. I hope that I will be able to meet a professor, so I kinda have my fingers crossed on that!!!!
