Learning Lab 1/27/2007

This Saturday was the second learning lab this semester where the teens were back in the lab. I am really excited about Priscilla's return to the lab. The teens are able to recieve support from her when it comes to the science content. Her presence in the lab provides a person with a strong science background and someone that the teens can personally connect with. As for me she provides me with science concepts and information that are new to me and challenges me to step out of my comfort zone with science. To be honest I am just really happy to have another person in the lab with me.This week we did flame test with the teens. Not only was this the first time that most of the teens did this type of lab experiment, it was also a first for me. So, this was a learning experience for all of us. Priscilla, Nao, and myself did a test run early during the week and I felt comfortable enough with the science to teach the teens but I feel like on Saturday doing the activity again with them I just got more out of it, almost like I learned even more.
