Learning Places Update

We have already had four successful Learning Places labs this semester. The teens focused on updating the presentation design boards for the first two labs, and the last two have been work around inquiry.

Over the break, Felix and I meet with all five sites to get the final approval for the designs. We found that everyone was extremely pleased with their design ideas, but really wanted MORE! Most of the site requested more curriculum and design ideas and borrowed from the other Community Sites curriculum and design. Many of them wished that they had given us a bigger space to start with, but were still happy with what they were going to get. Unfortunately for two of the designers their space changed, but the designers took this in stride and revamped their designs.

Everyone has been extremely impressed with the design ideas the teens have come up with, and now we are focusing on implementing their vision. Felix and I met with Ranken Technical College and a member from ArtDimentions of St. Louis to talk about making the Learning Places look as professional as possible. Luckily for us, both institutions have graciously agreed to collaborate with us on creating the Learning Places. We hope to have all five site completed before May 2008.
