Science Fact of the Day: Winds around Saturn's equator can reach 1,800 kilometers (1,118 miles) per hour. In comparison, the fastest winds on Earth reach only about 400 kilometers (about 250 miles) per hour. (http://www.nasa.gov/facts/Universe/index.html)

Today in the ASTRONOMY component, we worked with lenses to make "quote on quote" a refracting telescope. We also worked with our sextants again, and worked on perfecting our poster. We did constellation research, i had PERSEUS, and we did it in the dark so it would "kind of" reflect the environment in the biosphere. Lastly, we had a guest volunteer in our component today, who came to observe what we do in our component. that's it i guess.

Well today in the astronomy unit, we worked with periscopes, and made our own using cartons, and mirrors. Then we worked with laser pointers and mirrors, and used baby powder to actually see the laser. Today we also did pop rockets with alka Seltzer tablets, and we also did the pepsi and mentos experiment. That was fun :-D

Taurus is in the sky during SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER, and the best time for viewing Taurus is around 9PM during January.Want to know more? Just ask

So today in the astronomy component, we talked about the relative distances of the planets in our solar system. We did a scale model using ourselves as the planets, and the alley beside the Taylor Building as our universe, and we looked at how far the planets are from each other, down to scale.
