Why I do it

I am a current voluneer at the Science Center. Volunteering allows me to gain a extra high school credits. Knowing that was my original reason for joining this program. As I moved though this program I notice that I was lazy and had some what of a lack of amibition when it came to task and objectives when given to me.I mean I do what I am told but at times the thought of not wanting to do a task would interfear with how effectivly I did it.

Realizing this made me look back on to my school work.If I dont feel like doing it I most likly wont do it or do a bad job at do to the lack of careing. I wanted to change this because apart of me felt dumb when I know I could do alot better so I look for ways to give me self disaplain. This program gave some what of a drive to better on my work.

Bing here I made new friends and be very upset if some thing would had happen to it. And it gives me job skills that i would need. When i want to go out and get a paying job.

Expectations

As a youth voulenteer we expect many things. Our first expectation would be to help assist people that are visiting the Science Center. We expect to get to know the Science Center well so that we can direct the visitors. we hope to learn more about the site as well as getting training for future job oppurtunities.

Benefits

Voulenteering at the Science Center has many benefits. For one, you get to meet a variety of people who may have alot in common with you. Voulenteering also is a benefit for the Science Center because they have more people to help make it possible for the buisness to function more properly. It benefits voulenteers for future jobs and college. And it looks good as voulenteer experiance on college applications.

My name is Amesha Qeona Kincade and today i'm going to talk about how i work with St.Louis Science center youth volunteer program and this program I work with Aramark well let me tell you a thing about aramark is a company that works around food. Well when I worked with them i was at the fizze factore. It was very fun workin around lots of people that you dont know but when you do you will get attach to them but when it all came down you will learn alot from them.

hey my name is charles boyd and i work in airmark and i think it is a fun thing to do cuzz i get work with people that i dont really know so that make it hard for me to bo who i am cuzz i like to have fun and people may not like to havein fun so i nkeep to my self and do my job but it is a good thing for me right now cuzz my thing is to work hard so it all can pay off soon r later. maybe people like to live life to the fullest and go all out but not not me i like to put everthing i got into me workin i think ever body have a reson to live life the way they do but my reson is that im goin to be a dad soon so i can give my son ever thing i never had so that my son will not be in this world on his on cuzz i know how that feel and im not goin to my life effect my boy life..

My name is Bryan V Rickert. I found out about the program from my teacher at Gateway Ms. Lato. I came here last summer for one week and really enjoyed myself. I am hoping to learn about tornadoes. I like people and enjoy going to work. I love science and look forward to working at the Science Center.

Hi my name is Brian Jiles and I found about this program by an experience counsler and what I look for in this intern is more work experience of working with other people and getting an understanding of what I am work with. Also what I look for doing is giving good reports so that people can read about me doing a good job so that when I do a good job the manager can say that I am doing a good job so that when graduate the manager can ask me to apply at the science center again because of the hard work I did when I was an intern and that's what I look for When I start my intern at the science center.

My name is Tionna and I'm a youth volunteer for the science center, I work in the Dino exhibit, I like the exhibit because it gives me a chance to work with kids building the dinos, it's a large skeleton that took me maybe a day to learn the parts. We get the chance to see all movies so if a visitor ask we're able to let them know about.

This week we had professional development I got a chance see the other student and work with them doing activities and ice breakers. Like Survival Examing Values at first I felt was a little mean, to have to put people out because others needed to survive. Laquitta will talk about the activities more.

My name is Laquitta and I felt the same as Tionna about putting people out the shelter. I put the pregnant woman out because she would have eaten too much and it was her first baby. than it was the 16 year old sick boy, the old lady and last the Minister because of his age. We had to say who would beable to help the group than make it hard to survive. That was was really fun. I work with Aramark I like helping the visitor by making sure the tables and chair are in place and that the cups are in place the ice machaine is full and ready before the doors open.

Im really looking forward to working at the science center. Hopefully I will enjoy my time and not dread waking up each morning. I like meeting new people and experiencing new things so this should be something i like...but we'll see! Im expecting this to be fun. its a plus that science is my best subject maybe i'll learn more about science and i'm always happy to learn something new about a subject I like. Hoping to make some new friends also...none so far I kno mostly everyone here thats a diisappiontment but it's cool i guess, praying its gets better once we are at the sciene center.

My experience as a youth volunteer in the science center has helped me out a lot in life 1 way its helped me by is getting in my grammar also, it has made me a better person in life also, it has helped my social skills with people and its has made me a better individual in life. i have experienced how to do things i've never even done before!!. i hope that in the future that the skills ive learned in the past will help and aid me in the future.when i first came to the science centeri though that i would hate this and this was a waste of time but, as i got into the concept i enjoyed my self and had fun i met new people and we all had a good time.
