Today 2-9-13 in the Design and Engineering we mad e our modles of the UWV (under water vichiles). We had to make the modle of the UWV out of straws, tape, ballons, and various other objects. The goal today was to make our modle, and put it into a tub of water and not have it sink, or float on top of the surface of the water but have it float in the middle. If it didn't work the first time then you took it out and revised your idea/plan.

The time I have spent here at the yes program have been a good time and uses of my summer where as if I was not here i'd proably be asleep till 1 pm and sit around the house all day. Instead of doing that I desided to join the YES program, that I heard about from a women who works with my parents. Here I was of use and not just cleaning out the pantry at home, here I tought kids and made money also learned ALOT! I had alot of fun in the process of all that stuff. I hope to come back next summer into the robotics and learn how to make so pretty cool stuff!!!

The networking event was awesome i meet so many people!! People who were so kind and generous with with knowledge and information. I found out about jobs i never knew excited advertisers the people who make commercials i thought the company's whose commercial it is made it not a guy behind a computer or storyboard. I found out what its like to be a cop and embalmer also a recruiter for a school. There was this guy who was in the navy who told me what his experience was and how much fun he had and the places he went and the things he did. For one he was on the ONLY navy ship with a radio station that he started!!! I think this networking event that we had has opened the YES teens eyes a lot to the world around us.

I've been back for two weeks now. In the first week as many people know, my group "plant life" did the handy garden activity. We kept getting the same groups and they didn't want to do the handy garden anymore so we decided to come up with a different activity that would be interesting to the visitors and ourselves. We wanted them to learn but have fun as well. We desided to make the new topic about matter and the states of matter. Now we are making, what we call "Mystery Matter." It is made up of cornstarch and water to show two different states of matter liquid and solid. If you press your finger into the mix slowly its a liquid, but if you press your fingure in the mix as fast as you can you'll see that it acts like a solid. It's a fun activity and the visitors seem to be enjoying it as well as my teammates!
